Social Cognitive Theory has to do
with not just the environment or the learner or even the teacher, but all of
them together and how they work off of each other. There are three main parts to making sure
that Social Cognitive Theory is working.
The three main parts of Social Cognitive Theory are model, imitator, and
environment. The model is someone of
high status that is giving the information out to the imitator. The imitator is the learner and has to be
willing to learn and be motivated to learn.
The environment is whether the imitator has access and a punishment to
motivate the imitator.
I was wondering is it possible that
people will do the opposite of a PSA because of who the celebrity is on the PSA? So instead of actually making people interested
it turns people away and make them do the opposite, just in spite of the
celebrity and if that could happen in a classroom because the student hates the
teacher.
Teaching is all about getting the
imitator motivated by having a good model that the imitator looks up to and
believes that they will truly help the imitator. Also the imitator needs access to the model
and a punishment to motivate them to continue to try and continue what they
have learned.
My friends affect my learning
because I usually learn a lot of different things from them and through the
experiences that we do together. Also my
parents teach me a lot about street smarts compared to school teaches me more
book smarts. And because I looked up
more to my parents compared to my teachers I feel I have focused less on school
and more on friends and having fun than school because I did not like a lot of
my teachers.
