Behaviorism Post 2

We can engage students’ brains to help them better understand big ideas by using images to clarify ideas, making interactive images, and augmenting memory with persistent and evolving views. Having an image helps involve many area of the brain and allows students to make more connections with one concept or idea.
We can use this model but apply it using different sensory pathways. Having students participate in hands on activities, such as using base ten blocks to solve math problems not only stimulates the parts of the brain that make the calculations, but also stimulates different parts that allow for more neural connections to be made.

  1. This post reminds me of N101! In that class we spent a lot of time going back to the basics of math using base-10 blocks and sensory objects to learn math all over again. It helped me as a kid, and it helped me again in college!
