Module 6 Post 2

To be honest I am a little confused about this video and what the differences are between each of the 3 concepts he introduced.  But this is my understanding of it -- we can help our students understand big ideas more clearly by using images such as graphs or drawings.  Images clarify ideas in our minds and help us to retain information better. Tom Wujec also says that the images need to be interactive and engaging in order for them to be beneficial for us.

Every time I've learned about the brain, I've always heard that it's important to teach things using more than one sense -- for example, use math blocks or pie cutouts to teach fractions, do science experiments/labs to teach science concepts, make up a story/picture using vocab words, etc.  This video proves that further.  It is important for us as teachers to engage all of our students' senses because if students use more than one sense to learn new information, they are more likely to remember it in the future.

  1. I think you have a good understanding of this--and you don't necessarily need to understand HIS version of the three parts of good visual information. It is important to present things using multiple senses, but because we, as humans, are so reliant on the visual sense, it's especially important to take advantage of that in as many ways as possible.
