Module 10 Blog 1

In the chapter it talked about the different types of observational learning and the four main components which were relevance, competence, gender-appropriateness, and high status. Each of these allows for the audience more access to connect with the model. Another main component of the chapter was self efficacy and how it changes with the varying races. With people of lower socioeconomic status their self efficacy goes down due to their belief that they aren't "good enough" to do the best. Students with high self-efficacy find themselves to be more successful while students with low self-efficacy tend to have a lower feeling of success.

One question I had was how do you change a students self efficacy? Is there a way for you to change the way the student views themselves from having a low self-efficacy to high self-efficacy?

In the social cognitive learning theory, learning is observing others and their behavior. According to these theorists personal characteristics shape learning and help students to learn at their fullest and best potential.

People help when you learn because everyone introduces a new perspective through learning. What one person understands, the other may not allowing them to describe things in a new way to other students.

  1. We will talk about self efficacy and ways to increase it during the (intrinsic) motivation class after midterms!
